Anna Marie Gaynor Monaghan, 95, died Friday April 12 at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. Born and raised in Lambertville, Anna moved to New Hope in 2001. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Lambertville and most recently St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in New Hope, Pa. During World War II, Anna worked at General Motors’ Fisher Body plant in the West Trenton section of Ewing Township. During the War, the facility was converted to build torpedo bombers for the United States Navy as part of GM's Eastern Aircraft. As part of the War effort she was part of one of the most iconic representations of working women, “Rosie the Riveter.” Daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Maston Gaynor and widow of Joseph A. Monaghan, she is survived by two sons, Michael Monaghan and his wife Beverly, Patrick Monaghan and Christine Girandola; a sister, Sally McConnell and her husband, Bill; three grandchildren, Kerry Foley and her husband Ryan, Greg Monaghan and Cari Winebrenner, Ian Monaghan and five great grandchildren, Connor, Aidan, Logan and Ryan Foley and Jack Monaghan, along with several nieces and nephews and a host of longtime friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bridge St. Lambertville. Burial will follow in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Cemetery, New Hope, Pa. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of departure for church at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N.
