Obituary for Barbara A Prall

Barbara A. Prall peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus at her home at Park Creek Place in North Wales PA on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. She was 93.

Barbara was born on October 8,1929 in Trenton NJ, the daughter of John C. Allen Sr. and Mildred (Holcombe) Allen. She lived for a time at homes in Rockaway and Mine Hill NJ, moving to Lambertville in 1942 where she lived in the Lambertville House which was owned by her mother and father. She graduated from Lambertville High School in 1947; following graduation, she attended Hood College in Frederick MD, from which she graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.
In 1953 she married John S. Prall of Lambertville; after initially living in Trenton, the couple moved in 1955 into the house on Union Street in which her husband had grown up & remained there for over two decades as they raised a family. They had two sons, John Scofield Prall Jr. and Charles Allen Prall. In 1977 they moved to Delaware Township NJ, and then to Buckingham Springs in New Hope PA in 1993.

Barbara worked for several years after her graduation from college as a schoolteacher in Trenton but left that after son John was born to become a full-time homemaker. She was a long-time member of Pineville Independent Bible Church in Pineville PA and had previously been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lambertville. She taught a Bible Study in those churches for nearly 65 years, and throughout her life worked hard to share the Gospel of her Lord & Savior, Jesus, with those she met. She loved gardening, playing the piano, playing bridge or camping with friends, visiting the Jersey Shore with her family, and of course, she loved her cat.

Barbara is survived by sons John (Sarah) of Lansdale PA, and Charles (Deborah) of Newtown PA; 5 grandchildren, John S. (Erica) Prall III of Toledo OH, Joshua A. Prall of Wilmington DE, Sarah E. Prall (fiancé Sean) of Pitman NJ, Courtney (Bryce) East of Honolulu HI & Megan (Andrew) Shapowal of Fountainville PA; and 5 great-grandchildren, Madison (Christopher) Hammoud of Alexandria VA, Sadie & Emma Prall of Toledo OH, Jesse Prall of Pennsauken NJ, & Penny East of Honolulu. She was much beloved by all, was a blessing to many and will be deeply missed.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 9th at the Pineville Independent Bible Church at 16 Pine Lane, Pineville PA; a time to visit with the family will be available prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Reaville NJ at 3:30 PM the same day. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barbara’s name may be made to the Pineville Independent Bible Church.
