Catharine “Cassie” Kelble, 68, passed away January 13, 2023, at the Hunterdon Medical Center.
Born and raised in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia, Cassie had lived in Ringoes, NJ, since 1997. She was a graduate of St. Hubert’s Catholic High School and Penn State University, earning a bachelor’s
degree in community development. She started her career with the Philadelphia Human Relations Commission, earning recognition for her work from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains. Later, she worked in human resources for Rutgers University for 20 years and for the New Jersey State Judiciary in compensation, retiring in 2014. She was a member of SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management, serving terms as editor, vice president and president of the Central New Jersey chapter.
Cassie was an accomplished artist, building on her color and style sense from her days in fashion retail. She worked with oil paint, showing works at area art exhibitions including Tinicum Art Show, Stover Mill Gallery and the Hunterdon Library Art Shows. She also was a contributing artist to the Lambertville Shad Fest Poster Auction. Cassie enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family. She was a parishioner at St. John the
Evangelist R.C. Church in Lambertville.
Daughter of the late Leo J. McGurk and Catharine L. Heavey McGurk, she is survived by her husband of 44 years William F. Kelble, three brothers, Joseph Patrick, Thomas Leo, and William Sean McGurk, 11 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday January 18 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bridge St., Lambertville, NJ. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St., Lambertville, NJ.
