Obituary for Ed Vinarski

Edward Vinarski Sr., “Big Ed” of Dillsburg Pennsylvania, formally a long time resident of Lambertville, New Jersey died July 2, 2019. He was the son of the late Andrew and Bertha Vinarski. His sister, Ann Sodi preceded him in death.        He was the beloved husband of Doris E. Kerr Vinarski, the devoted father of Edward Vinarski Jr. and his wife Kathy of Wellsville, PA, James Vinarski of Wellsville, PA, Andrew Vinarski and his wife Lona of Mechanicsburg, PA, Victoria Mac Queen and her husband David of Apex, NC and Carol Morton and her husband Gary of Dillsburg, PA.  Ed was also the proud, loving grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.        A Lambertville resident from 1952 to 2018, Ed was born September 10, 1929 in Plains, Pennsylvania.       Ed attended Plains Memorial High School and after graduation Ed served his country proudly in the Korean War as Staff Sergeant with the United States Air Force. Ed was a life member of VFW Post 7921 and American Legion Post 120 Lambertville.  He became a member of both military organizations more than 65 years ago. Ed was a former VFW Junior Vice Commander and Poppy Committee Chairman. In addition, Ed held the office of Trustee for the Young Men's Athletic Club (YMAC).       Though Ed never had the opportunity to join Boy Scouts in his youth, he was an active parent, Chairman and Merit Badge Counselor for Lambertville Troop 49 where he was involved with his three sons who all attained the rank of Eagle Scout.     Ed was a long time member of Stockton Presbyterian Church and served his church in many capacities, including Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.      After 32 years as a route salesman for Del-Vue Cleaners, Ed enjoyed his retirement. During that time he worked part-time for the Lambertville Beacon and Princeton Packet newspapers and enjoyed traveling with his wife Doris. His travels took him to Poland, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Canada, Costa Rica, Panama Canal and numerous National Parks throughout the U.S. Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends.        Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, at 2:00 pm at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. Lambertville.  Burial with United States Air Force Military Honors will follow in the Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Twp., NJ.  Viewing will be Sunday from 4-6 pm at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. Lambertville, NJ.   In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Stockton Presbyterian Church, 22 S.
