Obituary for Harry Robert Trauger
Harry Robert Trauger, 85, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023 at his home.
Born in Doylestown, PA, Harry was raised in Lambertville, and settled in Branchburg in 1965. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving for four years attaining the rank/rate of ATN3
(Aviation Electronics Technician Petty Officer 3rd Class). Following his time in the Navy, he began a 26-year career flying commercially as a Captain with Eastern Airlines. He later flew 5 years with North American
Airlines where he retired as a Captain in 1997.
An avid glider pilot, Harry was an 8-year member of Aero Club Albatross. Additionally, he was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and enjoyed attending the EAA AirVenture Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin several years in a row. He loved skiing, sailing, watersports, biking, RV’ing with the family travel trailer, road tripping, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His interests and hobbies were many, including: building model airplanes as well as refinishing and repairing player pianos. He also enjoyed working outdoors and on projects around his home. Harry could fix anything! For many years, during his retirement, Harry enjoyed working at his neighbor’s company in Easton, PA and loved volunteering semi- annually at the Atlantic Visiting Nurse Rummage Sale at the Far Hills Fairgrounds.
Son of the late Harry and Marion Trauger and widower of Frances Rose Trauger, he is survived by his daughter Jennifer Turvold and her husband Wade, his son Robert Trauger and his wife Philana, his grandchildren Tanner Turvold and Lindsay (Turvold) Ladi and her husband Andrew.
Family and friends can pay their respects on Saturday February 4, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 North Franklin Street, Lambertville, NJ. Burial and graveside services will take place at 11:15 AM at the Harbourton Cemetery, 1516 Harbourton Rocktown Road, Lambertville, NJ. Following graveside services, at approximately 12:00 PM, a memorial service and time of reflection will take place at Old Rocks Church, 260 Mount Airy Harbourton Road, Lambertville, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Old Rocks Church or Atlantic Visiting Nurse.
