Obituary for Helen B Atwood (Botti)

On August 18, 2022, Helen Botti Atwood, 83, of North Kingstown, RI, passed away at Bayview at Scalabrini in North Kingstown.

The daughter of the late Louis "Oscar" Botti and Elsie Wenhold Botti, Helen was born on August 12, 1939, in Doylestown, PA. Along with her younger brother James "Jimmy" Atwood, Helen was raised in Lambertville, NJ by her father and grandmother, Mary Byrd Botti. She graduated from Lambertville High School in 1957.

In 1960, Helen married Harley "Bud" Atwood, also of Lambertville. After moving several times, Helen and Bud settled in North Kingstown, RI in 1976, where she remained until her death. Throughout her varied career as an entrepreneur and businessperson, Helen was a licensed Real Estate Agent with Bassett Realty; owner of The Candy Company, a candy and ice cream store in Wickford, RI; manager of the North Kingstown office of Olsten Staffing Services; and Office Manager at Culligan Water in Warwick, RI, from where she eventually retired. Helen was an animal lover who always had either a cat or dog in her home, and she really appreciated a good game of Scrabble. She enjoyed visiting her local friends and chatting on the phone with her relatives and long-distance friends and kept in touch with many of them through Facebook.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Helen is survived by her eldest son Patrick Atwood of Warwick, RI; her son Matthew Atwood and his wife Dina Atwood of Merrimack, NH; her grandson Sean Atwood of Port Hueneme, CA; and many, many cousins and friends. Helen was pre-deceased by both her parents; her husband, Harley Atwood; and her brother James Botti.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday October 15,2022 at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church on Bridge St. Lambertville, NJ. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. Lambertville, NJ 08530.
