Obituary for Lynn Opdyke
Lynn McManus Opdyke, 67 passed away on January 31, 2023 at University Hospital in Newark.
Born in Elizabeth Lynn had lived in Delaware Township for the past 45 years. A graduate of Springfield College she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. Lynn owned and operated Sunny Day Care Center and Preschool in Stockton, NJ with her family from 1984-2006. Following that she returned to the public school system retiring from the Kingwood Township School in 2016. She was a wonderful, loving and warm teacher who touched the lives of many young people during her teaching career. Lynn was raised in the Catholic faith and had attended Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Baptistown.
Lynn is predeceased by her parents Thomas J. McManus, Jr. and Margarita Ann Donachy McManus, her sister Maureen Fichter and her husband Gary and her nephew Aaron Webb.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years Stephen Opdyke, two sons, Brett and his wife Angela, Luke and his wife Sarah, 4 grandchildren who she loved and adored, Sadie, Sullivan, Kinsley and Olivia., her brother Thomas J. McManus, III and his wife MaryAnn. Other surviving extended family members are 2 brothers- in- law, Skip Opdyke and his wife Mary Jo, Erik Opdyke and his wife Chris, 2 sisters- in- law, Kristine Webb and her husband Ken, Karin Hicks and her husband Marc and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Lynn’s life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
