Obituary for Marilyn J Marinelli

Marilyn Marinelli, age 84, of New Hope, PA passed away at home surrounded by family, on March 11,
2024. She was born on September 29, 1939, in Two Harbors, Minnesota to Evelyn Holm and William
Oberg. At a young age, she moved to AZ and it was here that she developed a great love for Mexican
food, country music, the desert sunsets, and rocky road ice cream. She was a graduate of Scottsdale
High School. Marilyn and her first husband moved their four children to Canfield, Ohio in 1971, after
living in California and Michigan.

She quickly grew to love the Canfield community. She always attended the Canfield Fair and the Fourth
of July Parade. She grew beautiful gardens, loved the local antique shops, and was an avid animal lover
that included horses, dogs, cats, and when needed, saved chipmunks, squirrels and birds etc. She left
her daughters several legacies, including be kind, don’t judge, rescue those that need rescuing, have
faith, be independent, find the good in whatever situation you are in, give to charities, be grateful….and
above all else, she left us a strong sense of humor.

In her later years, with her second husband, Donnie Marinelli, she purchased a motor home and
traveled the country. She had a second home in Florida in a retirement community where they stayed
during the winter months. Marilyn was a member of the garden club, the Red Hat Society, and other
groups. She loved Florida and built many lasting friendships.

In their final years, Marilyn and Donnie moved to New Hope, Pennsylvania and resided with her
daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter. Marilyn found joy in her granddaughter and watching the
birds at their many feeders outside her window. Through our tears, we do find solace that Marilyn is
reunited with her beloved Donnie, her parents, her brother, Johnny Oberg, sister, Marcia Bostrom., and
several well-loved horses, dogs and cats. We who remain include daughters Kimberly (Bill) Holmes,
Michele Cox (John) Helfrich, Dominique (Aaron) Stoeber, Kristen Cox (Andrew Nastoff), and Linda Tarica.
Grandchildren include Tiffany Holmes Reynolds, Billy Holmes, Natalie Holmes, Victoria Helfrich
Lombardi, Corey Grimm, Arriana Nastoff, Tara Nastoff, Amelia Grace Nastoff, Stacey Wollet, and Jessica
Wolfe. She also leaves six great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Sugar Plum.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date where Marilyn will be laid to rest, beside her
beloved husband Donnie, at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests you donate to a charity of your choice, as Marilyn donated
to several over the years with her strong spirit of giving.
