Obituary for Mary "Betty" Cavallo

Mary “Betty” Cavallo, 92 passed away Monday, May 8, 2023, at her home.

A lifelong resident of Lambertville, Betty was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church and attended daily Mass. She was a past president of St. John’s Altar and Rosary Society and was a member for years. Betty took pride in caring for the Altar cloths and linens along with the various vestments worn by the priests and altar servers and she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Betty owned and operated the Chocolate Shoppe restaurant on Bridge St. for many years beginning in 1973.

She is predeceased by her parents Winfield P. Schmutz and Florence Strouse Schmutz, her husband Joseph E. Cavallo, her son Gary Cavallo, her nephew Kyle Donnelly and longtime companion Lowell Hackett. She is survived by her daughter Diane C. Waugh and her husband James, her sons, James E. Cavallo, Vincent J. Cavallo, Mark C. Cavallo and his wife Sarah Dang, Ronald W. Cavallo, Anthony N. Cavallo and his wife Joyce, Lawrence P. Cavallo and his companion Anne Gaspari, her sister Wendy Donnelly and her husband Kevin and their daughter Megan Donnelly.

Betty was blessed with ten grandchildren, Jenn Cruz, Jamie Cavallo, Joseph Cavallo, Michael Cavallo, Tyler Cavallo, Kara Chapman, Alex Cavallo, Noah Cavallo, Chloe He, Billy Brown, and her seven great grandchildren Carson Cruz, Matthew Clifford, Lawrence Clifford, Adrianna Cavallo, Camryn Chapman, Jakob Brown and Alyssa Brown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday May 12, 2023at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bridge St. Lambertville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-9959.
