Obituary for Melissa Lehnhardt

Milford, NJ: Melissa (Missy) Lehnhardt, 59, died peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. Born March 19, 1960, Missy lived in the Lambertville-Stockton area for most of her life, and most recently enjoyed living in Milford, NJ, with her husband. During her 35 years as a celebrated chef, Missy ran her own restaurant for 10 years, earning a four-star review from the New York Times. Her career spanned a number of area restaurants, and while she retired from professional cooking several years ago, she continued, as she always had, to effortlessly wow family and friends with her amazing culinary skills and generous desire to always feed those she loved. Daughter of the late Albert Lehnhardt, Missy is survived by her mother Minnie Witkoskie, her husband Michael A. DeAngelis, her children Anthony Keyes and Mina Keyes, her sister Abby Weidel, her brother Karl Lehnhardt, her nieces, nephew, their partners, and grand nephews (and soon to be grand niece), as well as her sweet pup. Missy loved visiting Maui, Hawaii, with her husband where the two enjoyed whale watching and taking in the stunning sunsets. She had an endless curiosity with the natural world and a keen eye for hidden treasures in plain sight. Her special connection with wildlife created something of a fairytale around her home. From hand feeding deer to cataloging birds, watching bear, fox, and many other creatures in her presence, Missy felt most at home living near the Delaware River, absorbing her surroundings. She will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor, quick wit and sarcasm, selflessness, and boundless love and support for those dearest to her. To be loved by Missy was to be accepted, supported, and comforted with a unique loyalty. On behalf of Missy, we encourage you to consider being an organ donor.
