Obituary for Patricia W Petrie

Patricia Worth Petrie, 84, passed away on February 18, 2022 at Pine Run Community in
Doylestown, PA.

She was born in Jamaica, NY on Long Island, the oldest daughter of the late Albert and Mildred Worth. As a result of several moves when she was younger, Patricia skipped the second half of 1st grade, jumping right into 2nd grade. She spent her remaining school years in Malvern, NY.

Patricia has loved her Lord ever since her 6th grade acceptance of Jesus as her Savior. II Chronicles 7:14 was one of her favorite verses. During her high school years, Patricia excelled at everything she immersed herself in – field hockey, basketball, softball, cheerleading, lead in the operetta, member of an all-girls’ choir, piano, writer for her school paper, and even sang once in Radio City Music Hall.

In 1957 after completing 2 years of dental hygiene at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Jay Petrie, a dental student at the U. of P. proposed to her. Patricia worked in NYC for one year before marrying Jay in the summer of 1958. Patricia’s love for helping others showed throughout her life as she accepted leadership roles as a Girl Scout leader for many years, American Field Service leader, church choir member, local Women’s Association, and the PTA. She also loved bowling, tennis, and quilting. Her happy place was sitting by the ocean surrounded by her extended family.

Patricia is survived by her daughters Linda Gulbransen (Ned) and Beth Mitchell (Stuart), as well as 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Roberta Varney, her loving husband Jay, and her dear son Scott (Janice).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 5 at New Life Christian Church
(4 Freedom Dr., Newtown, PA.) with a luncheon to follow.
