Obituary for Paul Francis Raywood II

New Hope, Pa. Paul Francis Raywood, II, 72 died Friday September 3, 2021 at the Hunterdon Medical Center.

Raised in the Mercerville- Hamilton Square area of Trenton, Paul moved to New Hope, Pa. in 1979. For a number of years he owned North Country Antiques in Lambertville before establishing Paul F. Raywood General Contracting in 1977, operating it until his retirement in 2018.

Paul was very fond of the New Hope area and proud of his work on many of the area’s older homes and historic structures through his contracting business. He was a voracious reader, particularly of history, the American Revolution, and its historical presence in the area which led him to become an active member of the Egg Harbor Guard reenactment group during the 1970’s Bicentennial. Paul was an avid sailor on the Chesapeake Bay Eastern Shore and a past commodore of the Haven Harbor Yacht Club in Rock Hall, MD where he maintained his sailboat, Shadowfax and made lifelong friendships. Paul also loved Cape May, NJ, where he vacationed many summers with his family. He was a member of St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in New Hope, PA.

Son of the late Paul F. Raywood and Priscilla Jean Raywood (Pitcher), he is survived by his wife of 44 years Virginia “Sis” Raywood, one son Paul F. Raywood, III, one daughter Paige Johnson and her husband Andrew, their children Grant and Anna, three sisters Kathleen Westholder and her husband Joseph, Beatrice Briggs and her husband Charles, Mary Beth Kelly and her husband Sean and several nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family under the direction of the Garefino Funeral Home in Lambertville, NJ.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Free Library of New Hope and Solebury or the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
