Obituary for Robert E Walden

Lambertville: Robert E. Walden, 62, died August 2, 2019 in Virginia from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born in Pomona, California, Bob spent his childhood on the west coast. After graduating from Sherwood High School, he conducted undergraduate studies at Oregon State University. After college, he joined the United States Marine Corps. In the Marine Corps, he served his country as a CH46 helicopter pilot for 21 years. He went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of West Florida. As a Marine, Bob flew as a member of HMM-262, HMM-261, and HMM162. Bob flew in Operation Desert Shield in Kuwait and Iraq, Operation Sharp Edge in Monrovia, Liberia, Operation Provide Promise in the Adriatic Sea, Security Missions in Tirana, Albania, Operation Autumn Shelter in support of NEO Contingency plans for Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Operation Balkan Calm in support of the Kosovo Observer Mission. Over the years he was the recipient of numerous Commendation Awards and Service Medals. After his extensive service to his country Bob retired and worked in the medical field, specializing in medical device sales for various companies. He worked as a hospital administrator at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and later at the Mt. Sinai Health System in New York, NY. He was most recently employed at the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School as the Senior Director of Administration for the Department of Medicine. Son of the late Edward and Sarah Walden, he is survived by his wife Antonietta “Toni” Falbo, his sons, Laurance Walden and his wife Dina, Captain Hunter Walden, USMC, his wife Lindsey, and their daughter Mia, Marshall Walden, Forrest Walden, his daughter, Virginia Walden, his sister Ruth Ann Fry, and several nieces and nephews. He was a fantastic father and grandfather. He impacted the lives of many who knew him and he is deeply missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 10 at 10:00 am at the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad Building, 72 Alexander Ave. Lambertville, NJ.  Calling hours will be held Friday, August 9 from 5-8 pm also at the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad Building. Graveside services will be held with full United States Marine Corps Military Honors at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
