Obituary for Rolf G Krauss

Solebury Twp: Rolf G. Krauss, 90 passed away at his home on October 12, 2020.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Krauss had lived in W. Amwell Twp. for over 50 years and in Solebury Twp for the past 6 years. Rolf spent his childhood in Auerbach, Germany and came to the United States when he was seventeen. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Rolf owned and operated High Valley Gardens and along with his wife had owned and operated Krauss’s Bakery in Pennington for many years. He was a member of the Hunterdon County Senior Citizens group, the BMW Association, the Audubon Society and a 70 year member of the Vereinigung Erzgebirge German Club in Warminster. Pa. Rolf enjoyed the time he spent on his “Gentleman’s farm” with his many pets, farm animals, his extensive perennial and organic gardens along with his beautiful water lily pond.

Son of the late Georg and Freida Krauss, and widower of Catherine Marino Krauss, he is survived by three daughters, Linda Nixon and her husband Fred, Rita Pogorzelski and her husband Jake, Susan Yannarella and her husband Jeffrey, his seven grandchildren, Christina Nixon, Jenna McGann and her husband Andrew, Kathryne Ponist and her husband Scott, Alexandra and Sophia Pogorzelski, Rachel and Andrew Yannarella and his wife Krista and her great grandson Ashton Yannarella.

Graveside services with United States Army Military Honors will be held privately at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, Pa.
