Obituary for Terrie Marciniak

Theresa S. Marciniak (Terrie) - loving wife and mother of two passed away Sunday afternoon  July 21, 2019 at her home of 33 years in Delaware Township, NJ, aged 70.  Terrie was an active, vibrant loving person. Born in Hazleton, PA in 1948 she grew up in New Brunswick, NJ after moving there when she was three.  She attended St. Peters High School, graduating in 1966.  She went on to Middlesex Junior College then graduated from Notre Dame College, Staten Island, NY with a degree in Elementary Education.   Her career spanned several schools including Saint Paul's School, Princeton; Saint Hedwigs School, Trenton; and for thirty years Antheil Elementary school, Ewing Township, NJ.  She created the Gifted and Talented Program there and loved teaching the G&T students, sparking their interests and creativity.  She had a talent for injecting life and love of learning into her students. Married in 1971, her and her husband took a 2.5 month honeymoon across the country which started a life-long enthusiasm for travelling. Terrie, her husband and later her children traveled extensively including owning a Motor Home and traveling around the country during summer vacations. She was learning to fly their antique airplane and enjoyed the thrill and excitement found at Twin Pines Airfield. She visited approximately 75% of US National Parks & Monuments.  As recently as mid June they visited Southern Colorado and New Mexico. During her life they also lived in Savannah, GA and Syracuse, NY. She was predeceased by her loving parents, father Joseph Skurka, a battle hardened Marine of the WW2 Pacific campaign, her mother Josephine Pollick Skurka, her sister Barbara Skurka. She is survived by her husband Bob Marciniak, son Carl Marciniak, daughter Diana Marciniak and brother Joseph Skurka, Union, NJ. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 27 at 11:00 am at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. Lambertville, NJ.   Calling hours will be Friday July 26 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Terrie wished that anyone use the money to contribute to a cause of their own, in her name.
